The 1965 Danelectro Convertible (specifically the Model 5015) is a famously quirky, highly collectible vintage hollowbody acoustic-electric hybrid. This one is in excellent condition. Refretted and recently serviced. Comes with an after market hard case.
First introduced in 1959, the "Convertible" got its name because it was originally marketed as an acoustic parlor-style guitar that players could easily "convert" into an electric guitar by purchasing a separate pickup and electronics kit to install directly into the soundhole.
Authentic 1965 vintage models are highly sought after by collectors for their distinctive lo-fi, jangly, and percussive character.
Key Specifications
  • Body Style: Shorthorn shape, fully hollow thinline
  • Construction Materials: Signature Masonite/hardboard top and back with a pine frame and a poplar neck
  • Scale Length: 25"
  • Fretboard: Rosewood, typically 21 frets with dot inlays
  • Electronics: A single vintage 1960s Danelectro "Lipstick" single-coil pickup mounted inside the round soundhole, controlled by dual-concentric (stacked) volume and tone knobs
  • Hardware: Non-adjustable steel truss rods, aluminum nut, floating wood bridge with a metal fret saddle, and a chrome trapeze tailpiece
