1954 Fender tweed Champ
Regular price $2,950.00
Unit price per
Early tweed Champ. Speaker replaced with a correct spec reissue Jensen. Custom wound 240v power transformer and safe Australian power cord installed by Tim Evans. Original power transformer included. Tim also installed a M/F plug in the speaker cord that allows you to easily play the amp as originally intended or plugged into an external 4ohm cab of your choice. Vintage tubes.
Like most Fender amps of the time, the Champion 600’s TV-front designed changed to a new tweed-covered “wide-panel” style in 1953; earlier versions still said “600” on the control plate; later ones said “Champ-Amp.” This one shows “600”.
Compared to later amps there’s not many components in 50s tweed amps between you and the speaker, and in Champs even less so. It’s all about tubes, vintage pine and raw electric guitar.
