The 1968 Fender Telecaster Thinline represents the very first year of production for Fender's iconic semi-hollow body guitar, famously designed by master luthier Roger Rossmeisl. Originally conceived as a solution to a severe shortage of lightweight ash wood, the Thinline was routed out from the back with a solid center block and hollow wings, creating a remarkably lightweight guitar that offered an "airier", warmer resonance while retaining the classic Telecaster bite.Â
