Ibanez Artist 2618 from 1978. On consignment from legandary Australian rocker Jimi Hocking. Comes with the original hard case. In excellent condition.

The 2618 is an Artist series solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez for 1976. It was made in Japan by FujiGen.

The 2618 features an carved maple top with cream binding on a double-cutaway mahogany body mated to a set-in laminated maple neck with a 24-fret ebony fingerboard with binding and pearl dot position markers. Components include a pair of Super 70 humbucking pickups mounted in cream pickup rings with individual volume and tone controls, a Tune-O-Matic style bridge and stop tailpiece, top hat knobs with pointers and Smooth Tuner machine heads.

Extensive changes were introduced for 1977 including the new Gibraltar bridge with sustain block embedded in the body and the slotted Gibraltar tailpiece with scalloped "cloud" ornament, new Super 80 "Flying Finger" pickups, a bone and brass nut, abalone fretboard inlays, speed knobs and VelveTune machine heads. For 1978 the knobs were replaced with Sure Grip knobs with rubber grip insert.

The 2618L was a left-handed version. The 2618/12 is a 12-string version. The 2619 is a related model with a 22-fret fingerboard with split block inlays and a pair of Tri-sound switches.

The 2618 was replaced by the AR200 in 1979.
