Bought in Melbourne City on the same day as the Beatles were here waving from their hotel balcony. The owner said \"what are all the screaming girls doing here?\" as he walked towards the guitar shop. There were two strats on the wall, a sunburst and a fiesta red...he made the wise decision....As with anything thats over 60 years old sometimes parts need replacing....this beauty has had two pots replaced, and a few screws from the back plate and pickguard...apart from that, it's all as it was when bought.  Great weight, amazing neck profile, and a sound to die for. This is an early 64 and not the later transition model. Original black bottom pickups and three way switch. Comes in the original Australian Stamford made case. CBS took control of the firm in early 1965, and the original quality associated with the brand eventually began to deteriorate. In some cases, the CBS-era drift towards more mass production techniques already started creeping in in late 1964. While changes such as a new headstock logo and a switch from clay to pearloid inlay dots can be found in some late '64 instruments, early and mid-'64 Stratocasters remain extremely sought-after guitars.
